The GMAT results are a gateway to MBA programmes at world-class universities. Along with the GMAT result and score, you should be aware that the tests in 2021 will also be conducted online with daily appointments. Scores from online tests will not be included in score reports for in-person exams.

GMAT Result Dates

GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), the body holding the entrance test, is responsible for announcing the GMAT result and score. The GMAT result dates are not fixed and aspirants can view the scores by logging into their account. The results can be accessed around 20 days from the examination date and the percentile/scores are mentioned on the scorecard. Aspirants should carefully check all information and notify the authorities if they come across any discrepancies. The GMAT cut-off marks for various chosen institutions should also be checked carefully.

How to check GMAT Results?

The GMAT result and score can be viewed by aspirants online and the examination can be taken 5 times a year. Students can check their official scores 21 days after the examination and they are valid for 5 years from the exam date. If an aspirant is dissatisfied with his/her scores, he/she may reappear for the test.

GMAC sends email alerts about the availability of official scores. The emails also contain all instructions for accessing the scores online. You can also choose to receive the results via post while registering for the GMAT. The score reports can be categorized into scores obtained within 3 weeks from the test, unofficial/official score reports, and enhanced score reports.

More information about scores

Scores for 4 out of 5 sections, i.e., Integrated Reasoning, Verbal, Total Scores, and Quantitative are displayed immediately after the test. Candidates get two minutes to cancel or accept the scores after which they are canceled automatically. In case of acceptance, candidates can get a printout of the scores displayed. The scores can also be canceled within 72 hours from the examination for a cancellation fee.

The official score report also contains AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) scores along with previous GMAT scores and percentile rankings. You can choose up to 5 schools for sending the official score reports during registration. More schools can be added to the list by paying a fee.

Eligibility for the GMAT entrance exam:

Academic eligibility

The organizing body has set no official eligibility requirements in terms of academic qualification. There is no minimum or maximum academic qualification or degree requirement for test-takers. However, most of the examinees are undergraduate students or working professionals eager to take up a management course. Even if the students don’t fall under the above criteria, they can still take the test.

Age criteria

The minimum age criteria as set by GMAC for the GMAT examination is 13 years. There is no maximum upper limit on age. A majority of applicants who appear for GMAT are above 30 years of age. Students above 18 years of age can simply register and apply for the GMAT examination. However, students between the 13-18 age group need their parents or legal guardians to sign the permission letter at the time of registration to allow them to take the test.


Grades and scores

The GMAT examination has no eligibility criteria in terms of previous academic scores and grades. There is no minimum cut-off marks required. However, this should not be confused with the admission criteria of B-schools, as they will consider your grades and scores before granting admission. For GMAT, there is no minimum cut-off mark.

 

Number of Attempts

As per GMAC, the number of attempts that an applicant can take will depend on a few conditions. Students can retake the GMAT examination 16 days after the first attempt. It will include holidays and weekly offs as well. Within 12 months, the applicants cannot take the GMAT examination more than 5 times. The maximum number of attempts is 8 for any applicant. If any applicant has scored 800 and above, he or she has to wait for another 5 years for the second attempt.

Language

There is no official eligibility regarding the language criteria for GMAT test-takers. Applicants who did not have English as their first language or medium of instruction are eligible to take the exam.

The GMAT exam does not have any minimum or maximum work experience requirements for test-takers. An applicant can be a fresher or an industry expert.

Syllabus of GMAT for the Year 2022

1. Analytical Writing Examination

The analytical writing segment is purely based on brainstorming ideas and writing an essay. A passage along with questions can also be the pattern. It is the very first section and it is compulsory to attempt it. There will be only one topic, and the score ranges from 0-6, and the time allotted is 30 minutes. The syllabus is vast and can be anything under the sun. The topic can be anything based on science, management, events, sports, or any other subject. You will not be singularly marked on your opinion or thought process, but it is your writing style that will fetch you a good score. Go for a balanced opinion and focus on your writing style, tone, and structure of the write-up. A student can score high in this section by following the below-given strategies: 

a) Brainstorming

b) Drafting a strong introduction

c) Penning well-structured paragraphs

d) A thought-provoking conclusion for the essay

There are two types of essays in the GMAT syllabus:

i) Argument-based essays: The viewpoint or reason needs to be analyzed and then a justified argument needs to be written for this type of essay. 

ii) Issue-based essays: An issue or problem will be given. GMAT aspirants will need to write an essay based on the issue. An individual opinion is welcome too. The length of the essay should be around 600 words and not more than that. 

To get a good score in this section it is pertinent to have good command of the English language. As part of the GMAT English syllabus, you should brush up on grammar as well as vocabulary to write engaging essays. 

2. Integrated Reasoning

It is a new section that has been added to the syllabus of the GMAT. It is a reasoning section where data will be given in various forms. The students need to analyze and evaluate the data presented in the form of graphs or in a simple table format. This section will have 12 questions in total, and the duration is 30 minutes, where the score is between 1-8. It is a scoring section and students need to practice a lot to ace this section. The questions given can belong to any of the following categories: 

a) Graphical interpretation: The data will be represented in the form of a pie chart, bar graph, histogram, curve, or a graphical image. It will measure the ability of the students to analyze and interpret the data from the graphical representations. The information presented in these forms needs to be interpreted in simple language or mathematical form. The interpretation should justify the relationship between the data and state the right conclusion. 

b) Table analysis: It will be a table formulation with all the data and information provided. A spreadsheet, for example, is a table formulation and the students need to sort, interpret and analyze the data and information provided in the table. It will help in determining the relationship between data, relevant information, and certain conditions. 

c) Two-part analysis: This part will mainly assess the students’ ability to solve complex problems. This section needs a lot of practice, and the students need to time themselves to complete this section. There will be trade-offs, equations, and relationships between factors and two entities. It will be a tricky part and students will need good reasoning skills to solve these questions. 

d) Multi-source: There won’t be just one source of data, but various sources like passages, tables, graphical representations, or a combination of all of them. The students need to analyze each of the data sources very carefully. The questions will be based on finding inferences and finding the relevance of data. There will also be some tricky questions, where the students need to find discrepancies among various data sources. 

3. Quantitative Reasoning

The quantitative reasoning section is the highest scoring section. It has a total of 31 questions, and the duration is 62 minutes. It comprises two parts - data sufficiency and problem-solving. The trick to cracking this section is practice. There will be 18 questions on data sufficiency and 18 questions under the problem-solving part. The questions in quantitative reasoning are completely objective and MCQ-based. There will be no negative marking for the wrong answer. 

a) Problem-solving: This part will focus on the problem-solving ability of the students. It will test the analytical reasoning and logical reasoning abilities of the students. 

b) Data sufficiency: Here the students need to examine, understand the problem and then identify the importance of data. After understanding which data is important, they need to understand the point at which there is maximum data to solve a particular problem. 

The topics that need to be studied as part of the GMAT Quant syllabus or the GMAT Math syllabus are:

4. Verbal Reasoning

To understand GMAT verbal reasoning syllabus, it is essential to understand the pattern of questions. The verbal reasoning section has 36 questions, and the duration is 65 minutes. This section checks the ability of the students to read and interpret the passage to give suitable answers. The idea is to check the applicant’s spoken English proficiency. There are mainly three types of questions under this section: 

a) Reading comprehension: Based on the passage, there will be multiple-choice questions. The students need to read the entire passage and then answer the questions. The answers will be checked for the following skills-application, inferences, ideas, style, and structure. 

b) Critical reasoning: This part will be based on analyzing the argument. There will be a few argument-based questions. The students need to analyze them, support, or go against the argument with a valid reason. There will be eight different types of critical reasoning questions and every question will judge a student on reasoning, argumentation, finding a solution, or evaluation of a plan. 

c) Sentence correction: A certain part of the sentence will be underlined. Students need to rectify issues or problems with underlined portion. The grammatical errors, if any, need to be corrected.

How to Apply for GMAT 2022

1. Log on to mba.com and click ‘sign up’ located in the top right corner.

2. Candidates applying for the GMAT examination need to fill up theGMAT 2022 registration form by visiting the website. The registration will be done for the online mode of the exam.

3. Candidates need to fill up all the information as required by the portal. If any information is missed out, the application form will be rejected.

4. During registration, students need to mention their contact number and email address. All the important notifications and alerts will be communicated via these two mediums. So, do cross-check before you submit the form.

5. Candidates will also have to choose test dates as per the available slot.

6. Candidates can choose up to three location preferences for the examination. Only pick the location that can be accessed on the date of examination.

7. Upload a passport-size photograph along with your digital signature. The size will be mentioned on the online portal.

Another aspect to remember is that GMAT is a CAT (Computer Adaptive Test) and testing software will keep adapting to your examination performance. The score calculation accounts for the capability level and the difficulty of questions that you have correctly solved. It is not only the number of questions that you have correctly answered.

It applies only to the Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning sections. AWA and IR are not adaptive sections. The initial questions in every section have medium-level difficulty for aspirants. Based on responses, you will start getting either easy or difficult questions. The composite result will account for difficulty levels of every question that you answered correctly/incorrectly. You can only view one question at a time. Hence, you must review your response before submitting it.

The GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test may be taken online by candidates or at the designated GMAT exam centers in India. Candidates can take the examination while adhering to the COVID  protocols and safety measures mandated by the center. Everyone has to wear face masks and use hand sanitizer available at various points at the center. Many test centers have reopened across Indian cities. You should be aware that the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a leading management entrance exam that is held throughout the year, and aspirants have ample flexibility in taking the exam on any day, depending on overall availability. The number of GMAT applicants grows each year, and more people are asking how to register for the GMAT exam in India. The registration fee for the entrance test is approximately US$250 (INR 18,528 approximately), and a rescheduling fee of US$50 (INR 3,706 approximately) is also chargeable if necessary. The cancellation fee is $80 USD (INR 5,929 approximately).

Are you wondering how to schedule a GMAT exam? Here's how to register for the GMAT exam quickly and easily. This is the procedure that must be followed:

a. Visit the GMAT official website. 

b. Make an account for yourself.

c. Provide personal information such as your name and address.

d. Provide information about your work as well as academic information.

e. All information must be verified and submitted.

f. Plan the examination.

g. Select the preferred or closest test centre.

h. Select your preferred time and date.

i.  Pay the GMAT registration fees with a credit or debit card.

j.  Your GMAT registration will be completed once the fee is paid.

You should be aware that you can only retake the test 16 days after your first attempt.  

Make sure to reserve your time slot at least one month in advance. During the peak season, which begins in November each year, you must book the slot three to four months in advance. You can also register by phone by contacting GMAT Customer Service in your region. You will be charged a US$10 (approximately INR 742) surcharge for scheduling the examination over the phone. Q. What is the GMAT exam?

The GMAT examination is a computer-adaptive examination that assesses skills of aspirants in quantitative, verbal, analytical writing and reading in standard English. The test helps in obtaining admission into leading graduate management courses including master’s in finance or MBA programs throughout the world.

Q. What are the eligibility criteria of the GMAT exam?

There are no set criteria for GMAT as per the GMAC, the organizing body for the examination. Yet, the eligibility criteria of the college/university where you are applying should be carefully met before taking the examination. The aspirant should be at least 18 years of age while upper age limits haven’t been specified. If the candidate is between 13-17 years of age, then permission should be obtained in writing from legal guardians or parents. Candidates should have graduate degrees in any field from a suitably recognized institution.

Q. What are the important documents required for the GMAT exam?

You should have a valid passport to take the GMAT test. One can also produce an Aadhar Card as a photo ID required to take the test. The photo ID must be brought along to the test center to take the GMAT exam.

The GMAT results are a gateway to MBA programmes at world-class universities. Along with the GMAT result and score, you should be aware that the tests in 2021 will also be conducted online with daily appointments. Scores from online tests will not be included in score reports for in-person exams.

GMAT Result Dates

GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), the organisation that administers the exam, is in charge of announcing the GMAT result and score. The GMAT result dates are not set, but aspirants can access their scores by logging into their account. The results are available approximately 20 days after the examination date, and the percentile/scores are listed on the scorecard. Aspirants should carefully review all information and report any discrepancies to the authorities. The GMAT cut-off scores for various institutions should also be carefully examined.

How to Check GMAT Scores 

The Aspirants can view their GMAT result and score online, and the exam is offered five times a year. Students can view their official exam results 21 days after the exam, and they are valid for 5 years from the date of the exam. If an aspirant is dissatisfied with his or her results, he or she may retake the exam. 

GMAC sends email notifications when official scores become available. All instructions for accessing the scores online are also included in the emails. When you register for the GMAT, you can also choose to receive the results by mail. Scores obtained within three weeks of the test, unofficial/official score reports, and enhanced score reports are the three types of score reports.

Scores for four of the five sections are displayed immediately after the test, namely Integrated Reasoning, Verbal, Total Scores, and Quantitative. Candidates have two minutes to cancel or accept their scores before they are automatically cancelled. Candidates who are accepted can obtain a printout of the displayed scores. The scores can also be cancelled for a fee within 72 hours of the examination. 

The official score report also includes AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) scores, as well as previous GMAT scores and percentile rankings. During registration, you can select up to 5 schools to receive official score reports. More schools can be added to the list for a fee.

Official reports containing a digital photograph and your test essays are only provided upon special request. You can also purchase the enhanced score report, which includes information about the types of questions, focus areas, and other actionable insights.

GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a computer-adaptive examination that measures aspirants’ preparedness for graduate-level academic work. What is the GMAT score validity?

The GMAT test score is valid for five years from the date of the test. It means that if you have taken the examination on 15 September 2021, then your GMAT score will be valid until 15 September 2026. 

The candidates are advised to pay close attention to the admission deadlines to fill the applications within the GMAT score validity period. Candidates can take the GMAT test once every 16 calendar days and a maximum of five times a year. The total number of attempts an individual can take in their lifetime is limited to eight. The duration of the GMAT test is 3 hours 7 minutes long.

The test-takers can score anywhere between 200 and 800 in the GMAT exam. According to GMAC, two-thirds of test-takers score from 400 to 600. 

What happens to your GMAT scores after five years?

Once the validity of your GMAT score has expired after five years, the score history or Official Score Report won’t contain it. It means that any B-school will not consider that score. 

Candidates can, however, access their old score reports by placing a special request. Scores that are more than ten years old cannot be retrieved even by placing a special bid. 

One must call GMAC customer service to request old scores. 

Can canceled GMAT scores be reinstated? 

Aspirants can cancel their GMAT scores at any point during the five-year validity period. The canceled scores won’t be a part of the Official Score Report sent to colleges for admission. 

A candidate can view their canceled scores anytime. They can also reinstate the canceled score within the GMAT score validity period.

Q. Is GMAT score accepted in IIMs?

Several renowned B-schools in India accept the GMAT test score. Institutes such as IIMs, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), ISB, XLRI Jamshedpur, and others consider GMAT scores. IIMs, however, accept GMAT scores for admission into their one-year full-time executive programs.

Q. What is the GMAT score required for IIMs?

The cut-off for GMAT across institutes varies depending on the number of candidates who appeared for the test, the difficulty level, seats available, and more.

Q. What is the GMAT score required for ISB?

Several factors decide your admission to the Indian School of Business (ISB). Along with the GMAT score, the other things taken into account include application profile, performance during interviews, and essays.

However, a score of 720+ in GMAT along with a decent application profile can increase your chances of securing admission to ISBs in Hyderabad and Mohali.

Q. Is the GMAT score valid for admission in two-year MBA programs offered by Indian colleges for experienced professionals?

Most top-notch Indian colleges consider GMAT scores for their one-year executive programs only. But there are exceptions such as SPJIMR Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, Great Lakes, and Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, among others, that admit Indian aspirants with GMAT scores to their two-year MBA programs.

Q. When is the right time to appear for GMAT?

One should have the desired GMAT score 12-18 months before beginning their target program at the university/college. So, in case your desired management program begins in September-October 2021, you should have your GMAT scores by August 2020.

Q. Is work experience necessary for GMAT?

GMAC specifies no minimum or maximum work experience requirement to take the GMAT exam. However, admission committees at various B-schools might consider your work experience while deciding on your admission application.

PTE Academic is a computer-based English-language academic test targeted at non-native English speakers who wish to study abroad in English speaking countries. PTE test measures the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Questions mostly evaluate two skills at same time, such as listening and speaking, or reading and speaking. The entire test is conducted in a single session, lasting 3 hours, and is taken in a safe test area, sitting at a computer.
