Blackpool and The Fylde College dates back to 1892 and is the only college in the UK to be awarded both Beacon of Excellence and Accredited College status, the ultimate accolade from the British Government.
The College is a Government funded institution & has received numerous awards for the quality of courses, customer service, and links with industry.
The College is a 'Highly Trusted Sponsor' of the UKBA and offers courses at Degree, Foundation Degree / HND, National Diploma and Diploma level. We offer vocational courses and training programmes in several areas, making us the first choice of a wide variety of international students. We are one of the only colleges in the country to have been awarded Centre of Vocational Excellence (COVE) status in three areas; Automotive Manufacturing, (which has excellent links with the Ford Motor Company); Building Services; and Customer Service Quality for Tourism. Our English Language and A-level Academy offers international students the unique opportunity of high-quality teaching within a relaxed environment.
The College is in the top 20 Colleges for Engineering in the UK.
The College is an 'Associate' College of Lancaster University and Lancaster validates the majority of our 80 Under-Graduate programmes. The final certificate in most cases is issued from Lancaster University. 3 & 4 year Under-Graduate courses allow 2 year stay back (Post Study Work). There are also opportunities for students to progress on to Lancaster University for Masters level programmes or on to other Universities. Feedback from students, following the International Student Questionnaire 2008/09 on their experiences whilst studying at the College was very positive. An overall average score of 72% was awarded by students in relation to the services offered by the College. Location & Facilities
Located in the north west of England, Blackpool is Europe's most visited tourist resort, attracting millions of visitors each year from all over the world. Its most famous attractions include the Pleasure Beach amusement park with the awesome Big One rollercoaster. The Tower, the three piers, the trams and the Illuminations are some of the other major crowd-pullers.
There are also excellent walks along the coastline, water sports at Fleetwood and the River Wyre, and fishing/bird/wildlife reserves. If you want something more challenging, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the Trough of Bowland, as well as being areas of outstanding natural beauty, are excellent areas for walking, climbing, water sports, hand-gliding, para-gliding etc. But if you long for a taste of city life then Manchester and Liverpool are both a mere hour away by road and easily reached by rail. Preston, England's newest city is closer still and in line to receive enormous investment in its retail infrastructure.
Blackpool and The Fylde College is oone of the largest Colleges in the UK with 4 campuses and its facilities are among the best in the Fylde area and indeed the whole of the UK. We have an award winning library, several refectories, restaurants and shops on our campuses and our sporting facilities are unsurpassed. Our all-weather floodlit Astro Turf pitch was opened by the world famous football player Sir Bobby Charlton, and cost over 1/2 million pounds to construct. We also have an outside climbing wall at our Bispham Campus along with a gymnasium and sports hall to accommodate badminton, trampoline, five-a-side football and basketball.
Student accommodation in Blackpool is among the lowest priced in the UK. A recent survey ranked Blackpool the seventh cheapest of university towns that offer students the best value accommodation.

The College has twelve academic Schools offering a wide variety of courses at Degree, Foundation Degree / HND, National Diploma, Diploma, and industry focussed levels. A full list of the Schools is detailed below:
Academic Studies, Access and Continuing Education Art and Design (HE), Art, Media and Performance, Business and Management, Catering and Food Production, Construction, Engineering and Computing, Hairdressing, Beauty and Related Therapies, Health, Care and Early Years, Maritime and Nautical, Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality. The academic Schools are supported by various corporate departments including; Student Services, Learning Resources, Administration, Marketing and Finance.
Our biggest School is Engineering and Computing, which includes automotive, aeronautical, and gaming. We are also specialists also in Hospitality, Tourism, and Art & Design courses. The College has good links with global partners Eg; BAE Systems, Ford Motor Company, Leyland Trucks, Hilton Hotels Plc, and major hotels chains.

The College offers a 250 pounds scholarship to all students who have already achieved IELTS 7.0 (or equivalent) or above at the time of enrolment. Proof of this level of English is required and should be in the form of a valid certificate.
