Eligibility & Admission Procedure
For an Undergraduate program, a student should have successfully completed Upper Secondary Studies, have a valid school leaving certificate and should qualify for higher education studies in their home country, therefore also qualifying for higher education studies in Spain. For English proficiency, a test would be taken or the IELTS or TOEFL scores are considered.
For a Master’s in Spain for Indian students, they should have a relevant Bachelor or equivalent Diploma Degree.
For a PhD program, the candidate must be in possession of a relevant Diploma or Master Degree.
For the admission to a university or college a student must have the following documents:
• Certificates of Required Qualifications
• Filled Application Form
• 2 ID sized photographs
• Passport Copy
• Student Visa (Non-EU)
• Health Insurance
• Receipt of fee payment
Application Procedure to study in Spain for Indian students
• Application form duly filled along with certified true copies of relevant documents
• The institution you applied to will decide on the recognition on the basis of your academic background
• Conditional offer letter if accepted
• Complete offer acceptance process and pay 1st instalment tuition fees to the institution
• Appointment for Visa Interview
• Complete online visa procedure and wait for the approval
• Once visa approved, book your tickets

Education System

Below given is the education system to study abroad in Spain:
The current system of education in Spain is known as LOE after the Ley Orgánica de Educación, or Fundamental Law of Education. Education in Spain is compulsory, and free from 6 to 16 years of age, supported by the Government in each Region.
There are 76 universities in Spain. They are distributed throughout the country but the biggest and most important cities that have the highest number of universities include Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.

Universities In Spain

1. Spanish universities may be either public or private, and they can be set up under either State or Autonomous law.
2. There are at the moment 75 universities of which 50 are established on a public basis and 25 on a private basis.
3. Of the 50 public universities, 48 falls under the authority of the Autonomous Communities while fall under the Ministry of Education and Science

Visa

To study abroad in Spain, you will have to apply for a specific student visa, depending on the duration of your studies, as explained below:

  • 180-days D type visa – if you plan to study in Spain between three and six months
  • Student visa (type D) – if you plan to study in Spain more than six months

Documents Required to study in Spain for Indian students:

  • 2 Schengen Application forms dully filled out and signed
  • 2 passport-size photos
  • Valid passport
  • Letter of Acceptance from Spain’s University/School
  • No-objection certificate from school or university
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for stay
  • Health Insurance Form
  • Criminal Background Check Form

Time required to issue visa:

  • Processing time for a student visa could take up to two-three months.
  • Cost of Student Visa: 79 Euros

Visa Procedure to study in Spain from India:

  • Application for residence visas must be submitted personally by the applicant at the Embassy of Spain, located in New Delhi or Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai in accordance with the current place of residence of the applicant.
  • Submission of all the documents does not imply “right” to be granted a visa.
  • If required, after submission of the application, the applicant can be requested to submit additional documents or appear for personal interview.
  • Applicants, who come under the jurisdiction of Consulate General of Spain in Mumbai, require prior appointment taken from VFS to submit their applications for Residence visas at the Consulate General of Spain.

Current legislation allows students to work while in possession of a student visa and residence permit (NIE estudiante), as long as you do not work full-time and the work does not interfere with your studies. You are allowed to work 20 hours per week, when you decide to study abroad in Spain.
